Gone for so long...

Hey guys, sorry I've been gone for so long. I've been busy with stuff in my life and haven't had the time to update my blog! I know, it's been like... exactly a month now, and I'm quite disappointed that I didn't update it for such a while.

Any-who, Black Ops news, Josh Olin explains to us why they have taken out quickscoping. For those who don't know: Sleight of Hand Pro cannot be used with a sniper rifle, you cannot line up the crosshairs and get an accurate shot anymore (when zooming in, the center isn't where the middle of the crosshairs was), and also Josh basically calls quickscoping "a cheap alternative to get kills."

Here are some quotes from him:

Anyone who Quickscopes will say automatics are easier; that’s human nature when defending a point. More importantly is the irrelevance of this point. It doesn’t detract from how frustrating and annoying it is for every other player when a quickscoper who has crosshairs taped to his TV screen can Left-Trigger, Right-Trigger before the scope is even fully visible on the screen...

Think of it like this: for every one Quickscoper, there’s an entire team of angry players who find it annoying. “Cheap” is just another synonym often used to describe this frustration. It’s unreasonable to ask them to “suck it up” just so this tiny community of quickscopers (by comparison to the global community of players) can have their fun.

Well, notice how he says "tiny community" in the last quote? He couldn't be more wrong. If you join a game mode- any game mode for this matter, at least *2 out of 5 people are quickscoping. It's just a fun thing to do, and you always get that "OMGWTFBBQ" reaction when you quickscope-wall bang that one guy camping the building with claymores and what not.

Well, about 12 more days until Black Ops; looks like I'm camping out in front of Futureshop on the 8th >=)

* I actually did do a survey when I was playing mw2 by running around looking at people (S&D, a couple games of TD, Demolition, and Headquarters. All other game modes are for homos. (Just kidding, i love you.))

Zombie mode CONFIRMED!

Well it has finally come to attention that Zombie Mode will be in Black Ops (like i mentioned in a previous post).  Today, in CVG’s sneak peak at Black Ops’ Strategy Guide, an interesting line was discovered:
“a complete walkthrough to the gritty Cold War-era Campaign mode, tips and tricks to rank up in Multiplayer, how to excel in Co-Op, or fight back the relentless Nazi Zombie horde” – BradyGames Black Ops Strategy Guide

This shows that zombies are back, and also that Zombies isn't the exclusive co-op mode that the Black Ops Dev team has been talking about. So apart from Zombies' mode, there will also be another top-secret Co-op mode!  The maps have been re-worked to play on the Black Ops' game engine, and will be playable as one of the multiple co-op modes.

In other news...

Well Halo: Reach has been out for several days now, and since I have a PS3, I couldn't get it. But that's okay :)

Anyways, Microsoft said its new video game "Halo: Reach" had racked up $200 million in global sales on its launch day, building strong momentum for the November debut of the Xbox 360 maker's new gaming system.

"Halo: Reach," the latest in the blockbuster "Halo" series, is a key title for Microsoft heading into the holiday shopping season when it and archrivals Nintendo and Sony Corp clash with new products and look to reverse a recent sales slump in the $60 billion game industry.

Congratulations Microsoft! With impressive first-day sales, who knows how much they'll end up getting in a week or two? By the way, Halo 3 made $300 million in the first week, so $200 million in one day is pretty good.

Quick update!

I was browsing the internet, when I came across this picture!  Look at the top of the stairs, to the right!

It's clearly a zombie/zombie shadow! Wow, I never noticed that!

I know they said the original 4 zombie maps will be included in the Hardened and Prestige Editions of the game. I don't want to over think this too much and speculate that there will be new zombie maps, but I highly doubt that they will make new zombie maps.  All in all, this was a cool picture!

*Edit: I know this picture is small but I tried uploading it to it's original size, but it was cut in many places because of the page layout. Here's the url to view the full sized image, which is much bigger.

Pre-ordering black ops? Read here!

There's a lot of places to pre-order black ops from, but these two places give exclusive stuff!

Amazon: Pre-ordering Black Ops with Amazon will earn you a limited edition laser cel. For those unfamiliar with the term, a laser cel is an image that is printed on Mylar (or Melinex, as it is called in the UK) rather than paper or another easily damageable material.

Sweet huh?

The laser cel is only available to the first 100, 000 pre-orders so be sure to get yours in quickly! Consumers who receive the laser cel will also receive an exclusive link to download a desktop wallpaper of the same image.

Gamestop:  Opting for pre-ordering through Gamestop merits an exclusive, Black Ops themed outfit for your Avatar. Gamestop has said that this offer will apply to either your Xbox Live or PSN Avatar’s. The Avatar Outfit is similar to the suit worn by the pilot of the SR-71 Blackbird in the Black Ops campaign mission WMD. If you decide to order online, you will receive a code to download your Flight Suit outfit while pre-ordering in-store will get you a pre-order card with instructions and download code. Show off your Black Ops dedication in style!

The only problem I see in this, is it's only for your XBL/PSN avatar :(  If they introduced this for online multiplayer, that'd be cool!

Extra Tidbits

-It looks as if Gary Oldman will be back in Black Ops, doing the voice work for a CIA operative named Jason Hudson, who will be a main character in the game’s storyline.

-Confirmed weapon camo's are listed below.
  • Dusty
  • Ice
  • Red
  • Olive
  • Nevada
  • Sahara
  • ERDL
  • Tiger
  • Berlin
  • Warsaw
  • Siberia
  • Yukon
  • Woodland
  • Flora
-There will be less gore than WaW had. Simply put, because Treyarch decided to focus on the customization part of the game and all that uses up alot of RAM on the disc, so it was toned down a bit. Needless to say, I would prefer customization > gore ANY day :P

-Tactical Insertions are back (ugh, I know, but don't keep your panties in a bunch quite yet), but they are not available in Core FFA or Hardcore FFA (which should keep the boosting down alot <3)
